The Mirror

The Mirror

A Poem by Jacey Beronio

I am fastened to the bathroom wall,
ever facing forward.
Inanimated,
I hold the past in my reflection.

I am aware of your sins,
a silent witness to your quiet flaws,
the missed deadlines,
the rehearsed lies like bedtime prayers.

We are all the same
in this small, tiled room.
We are not beautiful here,
but we are honest.
