This one jarred from the start Jackie. Sorry to say.
It's your use of deem I think. It would read much better if each occurrence of deem was followed by the word 'to'.

It reads much better.
I find in my head that It's lyrical - and kind of an indictment of a bully in defense of someone - it's like a rapper's lament if you will. It's condemning without defending.
