I Want To Be A Poet
I want to be a poet so I searched the internet,
I found out all the things that you should do and I'm upset.
It seems that rhymes are too "sing-song," often considered "stale,"
so if that's all I like to write, I guess I'm gonna' fail.
I like to read poetic rhymes, am I the only one,
funny, but I always thought they sounded kinda fun.
I dont know much 'bout Stanza's, and all that's poetically correct,
so does that mean my poetry will be held in disrespect?
Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven," that was a success,
"Paul Revere's Ride," by Longfellow, was not in poetic distress,
"Renascence," by Millay,
Frost's "The Road Not Taken,"
none of these were stale at all,
the "sing song" did not shake them
I guess I'll never make it big, cause rhyming is my thing.
I suppose I'm little more than just a wild poetic left wing,
but if your reading this and it's not making you go "yuck,"
I guess my rhyming aint to bad and "sing song" doesnt always suck!!.
