Back to Eden

A Story by Jakobe

V1-?: SO far, the serpant is trying to tempt the woman into eating from the tree. The first thing I see him doing in trying to get the woman to fall is asking a question. His question was not direct to his goal, he said: Did God say you can't eat from any tree in the garden? The answers could be yes or no. if yes than he has the chance to decive or manipulate her into thinking God was not taking good care of them. If she says no (which she did) then he can now put his next step into action. The woman said no and told the srpant what God said (this was used against her in a lie) afterword the serpant lies through his teath first saying that the consiqunce of doing what God said not to do will indeed not happen. If there was no consequcnce I would be more prone to do it. The serpent then says that the fruit will make her like God knowing good and evil. After this the text says that the woman found three things to her interest in the tree: It was good for food, it was pleasant to the eyes, and it was desired to make one wise. these three temptations appear multiple times in the Bible, but I will mention just two. 1 John 2:16 "For all that is in the world- the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life-is not of the Father but is of the world." And also, the temptations of Jesus in the wilderness. these are three groups in which we get tempted and this chapter along with Jesus in the wilderness explains these three areas too us. Lust of the flesh is connected with food and physical pleasure, Lust of the eyes wants and desire, The pride of life is achievement and success. What these three areas connect too is not the sin itself but the temptation "But everyman is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lusts and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death."(James 1: 14-15). Now if we go back into the garden the serpent tempted the woman in every way, when he said that she will not die from eating it that gave her no reason Not to enjoy the delicious looking fruit. We know that the trees in the garden were pleasant to the sight and good for food from chapter 2. And to top it off he said that this fruit will make you like God knowing good and evil. To bring this message to a close, we know that Adam ate and sin was brought into the world and everyone born from Adam was born into sin (Therefore just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because all sinned) We now have a new Adam "The last Adam" through whom we receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness. That is Jesus Christ who lived through the same temptations as was in the garden and the same temptations that we face today, He lived a perfect life and did not sin but the punishment that we deserved for our sin was poured out on Him. He, knowingly and willingly, allowed Himself to be crucified and tortured to pay the price for our sins, setting us free from the righteousness that comes from works and allowing us to be in a renewed relationship with God through the righteousness that comes by faith!
