a testimony

You hear a lot of justification about it nowadays. You see it making headlines on big platforms like disney. It's ok to be gay its a old testament thing. It's ok Jesus made the old testament irrelevant. I'm here to tell you the old testament is far from irrelevant. When God said you shall not lie with a male as with a woman it is an abomination  Leviticus 18:22 ESV he meant it. He wasn't just saying it to be saying it. It's a sin and a part of a set of rules he has set for a reason. Leviticus goes on to say if a man lies with a male as with a woman , both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death Leviticus 20:13 ESV let's pause right here. What does abomination mean? Some people say it means unclean. Let's dive deeper into the matter. The Hebrew words translated “abomination” are often used in association with things like idolatry and false gods. In  1 Kings 11:5, the god molech is called the abomination of the ammonites. Many things are listed as abominations throughout the bible, occult practices, child sacrifice, adultery, injustice, turning a deaf ear to God's instruction.these are some of the things detestable to god. So yes the act of homosexuality is a sin, but don't get it twisted he doesn't hate you he hates sin. If you think it's not that bad take a look into genesis 18. That's part of a reason he destroyed 2 whole cities they would not repent. So his judgement fell upon the cities. Now let's touch on you shall be put to death. There are many spots where it says people are to be put to death, but it's not just outright saying someone should kill them. When you actively live in sin you are dead, and if you die like that you will go to hell the second death.The worst thing imaginable to be forever separated from God.  Romans 6:23 ESV

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. That is something I wasn't willing to live with. That's why I prayed, and sought the Lord. He came in and changed everything. No it doesn't all go away yes you're still tempted, but you can get better. We were naturally coded to be with and attracted to the opposite sex. All that attraction is is the desire of the flesh. Now those who belong to christ jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires galatians 5:24. 

Galatians 5:19-21 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

(Galatians 5:19�"21). Sin entrenches itself in the flesh, which becomes dominated by iniquity of all kinds. It is the sinful passions and wayward deeds of the flesh that Christians must crucify.

Now what we need to do is remove ourselves from the sin through him, and ask for forgiveness and repent. To fully turn our back to the sin we can no longer live in that sin. Yes we are going to be tempted but that's all a part of starving our flesh. It will crave it harder, but we can not give in. While we are doing this it is important that we surround ourselves with likeminded people. Find a church that supports you, and don't be afraid to let them in. if they judge you for trying to cleanse yourself of this sin you don't need to be there. Pray constantly, it helped me. I strived to be in a state of constant prayer, whether i was talking to him or listening to music that was talking about him. He will be the greatest distraction you will ever have in your life. How do you know what you're doing is working? The answer is simple: the cravings get harder, the distractions around you get louder. What do you need to do, get on your knees and pray like your life depends on it, because guess what it does. Don't get discouraged when you have prayed for this to end, and you still have these urges. That is what made me go back the first time. The devil will get in your ear telling you lies like this will never work, you looked at him you lusted it's over. just give up you know you want to. It will be much simpler if you just give yourself what you want. If that's what you wanted you wouldn't be asking God to help you with it. It's what your flesh wants, your flesh is a sinful thing don't let it have what it wants pray pray pray and when you're done pray again. Paul’s instruction was inspired by Jesus Christ Himself, who said, “If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me (Mark 8:34, CSB). Don't think any part of what Paul said right there is gonna be easy. It's not. It is a daily struggle. We all struggle with sin daily, some of it harder than the other, but we can not let sin win. We crucify our sins by daily repentance. Why daily, because you may have physically acted in that sin ,but you have still sinned in thought.that is just as bad as physically sinning. No we can't control our every thought but it gets less and less the more we let God take over. You may be thinking who is this person to tell me what to do and how to do it? Well I have been about as far up that creek without a paddle as you can get up it. For many years I spent my nights getting so drunk I can't even remember most of it, but I do remember the string of one night stands with guy after guy, sometimes 3 or more in one night. Going out to the club to find my next likely victim. All I ever found at the club was the bottom of a bottle and mostly a night I won't remember. So before you go thinking this is someone who hasn't struggled with it keep that in mind.I can't begin to tell you how hard my struggle with this was. I can tell you how rewarding it has been. I have never felt closer to God than I have since I fully gave myself back to him. I have been through the ringer since then, but in a good way. I have found a loving and supporting church family that some of them know about it, and they have become my support. The rest will know, but not until this sees the light of day. Don't be ashamed to tell people and let them in. It helps no one the two men at my church I have let in. Start with one person that you feel comfortable with. Yall can work on this together quietly till you are comfortable letting others in. Right now I have let in the two men in my church I feel are the strongest there, and will help in any way they can. In the ancient world, crucifixion was the vilest, most shameful form of death, reserved for the worst of criminals. Paul undoubtedly wanted his readers to understand that the flesh is not to be treated with respect, kindness, or even indifference. The carnal nature is so evil that it deserves nothing but the most dreadful of punishments. Crucifixion was also one of the most painful forms of execution. Believers should not expect to put to death the flesh without experiencing some pain and suffering. The flesh and the spirit are always at war with each other that is why we must crucify our flesh daily. That is why daily repentance is so important.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 ESV

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Dont worry its not just homosexuality that is a disqualifying sin, it's all of them, but good news the one who gave himself to die a gruesome death on a cross still lives. He lives in  anyone who accepts him into their hearts, and repents. 

Romans 1:26-28 ESV

For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.

We are naturally attracted to the opposite sex, but the devil wants us to give in to the flesh. What can we do to keep him from winning?

Ephesians 6:10-19

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.

When we put on the whole armor of God we can walk in righteousness, and speak in it too. When we walk closely with God he helps us unlock our potential. Our full potential is fully in him. Without him what are we but lost wandering people down a dead end road.

1 Corinthians 6:11 ESV

And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

This verse is something to cling to on your journey away from homosexuality. Look to it to help keep you on your journey knowing Jesus is right there with you in this hour walking down that road with you. You aren't fighting the battle alone. He has sanctified you.

John 3:5. Jesus answered, “Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born of water and Spirit, he can't enter into God's Kingdom. After you have asked him into your heart your next step is baptism of water. It signifies your public announcement of your accepting Jesus as your lord and savior, and that you will follow him for the rest of your days.

Matthew 28:19-20 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 3:11 “I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 

You have been saved, you have been baptised, you have been set apart. Now this is where it starts getting good. You will be baptized in fire and the holy spirit what this entails.

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. (Acts 2:1-4, NIV) you will speak in tongues as the holy spirit gives you utterance through him you will perform signs, wonders and miracles. All of this is yours when you leave sin in the grave. I refused to let homosexuality and pride hold me back anymore, so I put it in the grave and have risen victorious in christ. He has given me the strength to overcome what I can not do on my own and don't think you can. Involve him with every step, and give him the glory because you didn't do it remember he did.
