The spring rains have stopped
The summer sun heats up.
My mind drifts back
to those cool mountain streams,
deep pools of rolling water
and sliding rock --
better than any water park in the world.
It's easy to get to, if you know the way;
and I do.

and the time he lost his cut-off shorts.
We found them, half a mile downstream.
It wouldn't have been so funny
if Becky Collins hadn't been the one to find them.
I can still see her,
dangling them just out of reach.
The water was cold
and Jimmy wasn't about to come out.

and the first time I made second base.
That was Jenny Swanson,
and she slapped my face,
but not hard.
I wonder now after so many years,
is it still there? I'm sure it is.
