Last night I dreamed I saw your face
So far away, ‘cross time and space,
Too far to reach and pull you back.
Tears filled my eyes; my face went slack.
I stretched my arms out anyway;
I screamed out words I meant to say.
I called and cried and begged and ran,
But could not cross the heav’nly span
And soon I saw an angel come
To take your hand and lead you on.
A thousand more were then revealed;
All, at the feet of Jesus, kneeled.
Yes, you were there, my mother, friend,
And confidant. I watched you tend
To wounds in both His feet, your hand
Touched Jesus, then I saw you stand.
Your youth renewed, your smile warm,
You turned and joined the angel quorum.
Your voice, it boomed with anthems sweet,
Your face, it told of joy complete.
His plan was perfect, then I knew,
And even though I still missed you,
I woke, this knowledge at my side,
And felt the weight of loss subside.
