The caged bird's last songA Poem by LaceyThis one is a bit strange, yet it was an expression of my truth. Leaving a damaging relationship and falling into another that became amazing is the moral of the story.
Being with him was like saying a word until it loses meaning, it became too much for me to handle, I lost myself in the pain, as he turned love into scandal.
Being afraid of the loneliness didn't keep me, I felt alone for so long, when I got the strength to walk away, I ran until I was gone. I took shelter in another man's arms, he held me so tight, like fixing a bird's wing, he kept me until I could take flight. Unlike a bird, I didn't want to fly away, I fell in love again, so I decided to stay. The one who broke my wings, damn near broke me, wants me to come back, he must be crazy. I built something new, gave my heart a rest, I will never go back, this bird has a new nest. © 2018 Lacey |
