A New Page

Into Distant Hope.

"I reopen the books of despair and hope

 to find my name that fades on my tongue.

 Cold as my soul smiles empty within

 no words that cry on end to a song.

 Counting down to write a story that ends

 with the means to make it a good one.

 But my hand can't reach for the escape 

 that hangs my thoughts carefully free.

 Freeze my fingers as the pencil haunts

 the chilling side of my blood that skips.

 Ghosts of tomorrow pick the words to speak 

 for me while my lips grow cold and run weak.

 My eyes flow with tears of forgive me please

 while my name fades from the book of hope.

 My love crawls forth walking away smiling back

 as my soul inks itself into the book of despair.

 Such desire fuels the fire within my heart with

 a new page written in the book of life opens."
