Struggling 2011

This is based on a series of songs I've written over the years. This time, I think we're all struggling.

No one believes in hope anymore

No one thinks positive these days

We've been shaken to the core

Exposed to our negative ways

I bow my head and pray

Fives times a day

To push the Jinn away

And keep the Devil at bay

No one cares about one another

Rape their sisters, kill their brothers

Everyone wants more wealth

To spite their own health

I struggle to survive

To keep my head above water

I can't falter

My son needs me alive

We're killing ourselves

Empty bookshelves

Ignoring our history

Blinded by the TV

All I want is a life

I can smile about

Nice kids and a beautiful wife

I can talk about

Again, brutal honesty. Love it! This poem is full of truth behind every word. Anyone can take something away from this and dissect it however they choose, but bottom line is the truth sets you free. Great job!

I agree with this poem. I have a real lousy job. I keep the job and my fake smile for the sake of wife and family. You stated a true story for many in this poem. The rich are getting richer. Poor are becoming more with each coming day. I pray also. I pray for leaders who don't spend 1.2 trillion on war. 1.2 billion budget for 435 congressman. If the common man look at the government finance books and understood. Revolution would happen. A excellent poem. Made me think again.
