House Of Our Lord

A congregational prayer for time well spent in the house of God.

O mighty Lord and Heavenly Father,

We thank you for the wondrous privilege

Of coming together in Your house

To worship You and study Your word

 

O mighty Lord and Heavenly Father,

We pray that You'll help each person

Who comes into Your house

Do so to hear and accept Your truth

And with purity of heart and mind

To make rest from the world outside

With all its sin and worry

 

O mighty Lord and Heavenly Father,

We pray that You'll help each person

Who comes into Your house

Never to reduce its value

Into being just another establishment

By coming with petty heart or mind

To try and control other people here

And to try and turn worship and Bible study

Into being their own personal fun time,

But to come with kindness and love

To teach, learn and admonish

According to Your perfect will

 

O mighty Lord and Heavenly Father,

Let not the time we spend in Your house

Be wasted with worldly heart or mind,

But used for our growth in Your holy way

In Jesus' name, we pray to you.

Amen.

I see you have prayers so cool and kind.
Very great thoughts you have mentioned here. Only a heart which is so true and with deepest emotions can ask heavenly father. I usually just pray lokansamasthan sukhinobhavanthu. It means all beings in this Universe be happy.

I had a confusion in understanding this prayer. If everyone is to be happy how is that possible, because there are two kinds of people good and bad. Good doesn't harm anyone but bad thinks cruelly and hurts others and that is their happiness. Lately i realised it means good will not get hurt by any and will stay happy and bad people had to go through punishment in a way they are in a path of achieving better life. It doesn't mean bad too enjoy by hurting others. So at the end universe and its beings stay happy.

And this wish just a great blessing from God and to the good people who are also praying for bad people.

You mentioned so many with beautiful words and sentences.

I feel your strong love for Heavenly Father through this prayer. Its powerful and beautiful. It has been a while since I have witnessed such a strong testament of devotion outside of the church that I go to myself. I have struggled many times with the worldly thoughts and contentions that those around me have brought into the lord's house, so this poem does deeply resonate with me.
