The Denial of Cain

One of my first poems in a while, taken from my old account on WritersCafe. I will be adding a lot of my old poems, so bare with me.

It's not my fault,
I didn't do it.
I wasn't around!

Am I my brother's
keeper, warden,
jailer? Why should
I watch over him?
Can't he take
care of himself?
He's an adult!

I try to deny,
I try to fight,
but You see right
through all my
lies and tales.

And so you cast me
out, marked me
with the sign
of the Beast.
