The Eldest

The Eldest

A Poem by Jessalynn

Melt me down to my most basic form, of molten metal and alchemic core. I’ll change shape to fit your mold ,again and again just turn up the forge.

Burn off the impurities, distill me till I’m easier to swallow. Just give me time to create my chrysalis and I’ll be beautiful tomorrow.

You can count on me to be stronger than diamond, my carbon arranged perfectly to withstand the pressure I’m under. Iron sharpens iron so go on and test my mettle. But sometimes, for once, I wish I could be the flower petal.

Yes the eldest expected to know everything
But sometimes you need to be allowed off the pedestal
And just be you
