The greatest suffering - A four lined poem

This is one of a series of four lined poem I've written.

The greatest joke is life,
For the dead begin to live.
The greatest punishment is time,
For I may die before I learn.

I like the last line. Where were you coming from with the 2nd? It's an interesting line.

I believe in the after life which is essentially life after death. That's what the second line references.

It also touches on the idea that a person can live their whole life and no one cares for them but in their death they become famous/celebrated
