Take off the maskA Poem by Joey MartinezPeople may seem happy, you look at them and think everything is well. Just by their face you can tell a lot by how a person is feeling, but you must realize that their happy face, could just be a mask. A lot of people put on these fake smiles so no one will know how they truly feel, how truly sad or upset they are, they want you to think everything is okay when deep inside its the exact opposite. Sometimes I wake up and ask myself "what mask should I wear today?" Should I be happy? Should I be excited? What mask should I wear today to cover up my true emotions. People don't take the time to talk to one another and ask if they're truly okay, anyone can say there fine but a true friend will notice when something is wrong. Look at your friend, and ask " are you happy?" "are you truly okay?" because they can always put that mask on and cover those emotions that are eating them alive. I myself where a mask sometimes because I was afraid to tell people how I truly feel, what I was really going through. Then I made friends, not hang around and get wasted friends, no, true friends that have my back and will be there whenever I needed them. These friends of mine made me throw away my masks because they took it off, they saw the pain in my eyes and asked me what was wrong and made sure I told them everything. These are the type of people you want around you, these are the people that are gonna make you fight these emotions and overcome them. Thanks to my friends, I never have to wear a mask again, I can be me, I can be free! I just want you to realize that people may look happy but truly aren't so ask yourself, ask your friend, "are you truly happy, or is that a mask you wear so you can push people back from helping you?" Help one another, we are humans lets show humanity.
