You There?

You There?

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Are you there?
It seems you're unaware
Of my constant stares
And love struck glares
Why can't you notice who I am
You're a celebrity and I'm just a fan
Hoping you'll notice me in the sea of people who want your love
Aiming to rise above
So I can be noticed by your dreamy eyes
And hope you realize
Where my heart lies
It lies with you
Because I'm affected by everything you do
Your pain is mine
Your smile is my shine
I hurt when I see you down
But I'm too scared to come forth and flip the frown
So I sit back and think of what we could be
Locked in a nervous shell of a wall and you hold the key
I know I need to man up and come stand before your eyes
Before its too late and someone claims your love before I
God bless the woman who gave birth
To the most gorgeous girl on earth

The age-old problem of stepping forward to express oneself in person is universal and timeless. As long as we remain at a distance we will never know if our love will be reciprocated and in the end we only fail because we do nothing. You have described what most of us feel at one time or another. Very good write!
