A Poem by Joey Martinez

These thoughts are running wild in my head
I put on my headphones so they don't escape out my ears and spread
Mom, can't you see your son is going insane?
Don't you see the dark clouds above showering me with rain?
I'm a walking paradox
That's been told to f**k off and kick rocks
And I smile each time the hand moves on the clock
Because that means deaths visit is near and soon I can rot
I'm just a thought away
From throwing God's most precious gift away
But for some reason he wants me to stay
I guess he wants me to suffer another day
And I think to myself... is this a test?
Is he expecting me to try my best?
Does he want me to be like the rest?
But he never answers my prayers on how to clean this mess
He doesn't help fight the demons that forbid my late night rest
So I lie here going insane
Watching the blood go down the drain
Death doesn't need to visit, I'm already walking down his lane
