The Dealer Of You

The Dealer Of You

A Poem by Joey Martinez

My compass has gone askew
Lost in a nightmare knowing I'm without you
Where have you gone?
I've been up since dawn
Trying to find my diamond in the rust
To bring you back home is a must
Crossing contaminated waters
Running through poisonous leaves
But what worries me most
Is the reason why you chose to leave
I can't make it another day without you
I need someone to love
I need someone to hold
You were the fire in my heart
That protected me from the cold
So many sleepless nights
Because I choose to fight
I choose to fight the feeling of losing time
So I can make it quicker for you to be mine
I rumble through the jungle
Hoping I obtain a scent of your precious perfume
But as the sun goes down, the night comes to consume
Having me walk foolishly possibly to my doom
But your smile shines brighter than the moon
Maybe it can guide me to you
So I can feel your presence that warms me up like June
Baby girl I hope I see you soon
