I See You

I See You

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Shes the girl who hides behind a false smile
A bottled up emotional wreck
Sharing this with no one to avoid the judgement
But what drives her crazy are my eyes that can't be deceived
Her blood boils knowing that I see beyond the forced smiles
It angers her that I know how she truly feels
She tries to avoid me at all costs
Praying I end up missing or lost
Hoping I tell no one who she truly is
But at the same time she wants me to come
Because she knows I'm not like the others
She knows I can help her
She knows I can keep a secret
But she's scared to let anyone in
Aching for comfort but running from it
So she hides from me
But more importantly from herself
Because deep inside she wants my help
And I will not begin the chase
She will come on to me on her own
Because she's scared of what she loves most... being alone
