Shush

Shush

A Poem by Joey Martinez

The quiet one
You never think to say hi
The unknown woman
The world seems to pass her by
A gorgeous puzzle
Always has her nose in a book
Hiding her beauty
No one gives her a second look
Waiting to be approached
A listener who's always alert
Hiding her exquisite features
Because on the inside she's hurt
Staring at the world with empty eyes
Observing the massess, seeing past their lies
Hoping she notices me falling in love with her silent cries
Hoping she catches a glimpse of my foolish charm
Because I wish to give her comfort under my scrawny arms
The quiet one
Thats what she became
Unheard beauty
And the world is to blame
