Intoxicating conversation

Intoxicating conversation

A Poem by Joey Martinez

Meaningful conversations seem to mean more when it’s said during the times of intoxication.
Words are powerful enough but when you’re high or drunk, those words become more tough.
I feel as if people are waiting to be impaired to truly see if people care about what they have to say.
Sober minds start to decay from the waves of whiskey or the clouds of weed.
Drugs and alcohol start as a choice but now it’s a need.
Some make it out alive while others cling on for the ride and die.
Go ahead and join the crazy train with the others who’ve gone insane.
Or fall back and counteract those temptations.
Just know who listens instead of hearing.
Watch their attention grow weak when the smoke is clearing.
A lot of fake friends are on the rise.
Can you see through the lies or will you seek comfort with their disguise?
