The flames

A song I wrote inspired by the radio again..

It was fire meeting wind

Spreading fast, I felt the heat, I let you in

It was wind meeting fire

Spreading fast, I felt the love, I felt the desire

and then the flames hit my heart

Rising like a wall in the dark

Shadows making patterns on the wall

and I couldn't feel the burns anymore

It was fire meeting wind

Spreading fast, I felt the heat, let the games begin

It was wind meeting fire

Spreading fast, I felt the lies, burning down our empire

and then the flames hit my heart

Rising like a wall in the dark

Shadows making patterns on the wall

and I couldn't feel the burns anymore

Both of us covered in smoke

Burned in my lungs as I woke

and then you let go of me

It burned past the third degree

and then the water hit the flames

Falling down on us like rain

but it couldn´t put out the pain

of the flames hitting my heart

All the walls are falling apart

Just ashes on the ground

I loved you

But you burned me down

Intentional or not, this makes me think of the eruption of 79, the destruction of Pompeii. I think about one of thousands of Romans fleeing from the raging fire, feeling love towards their town and family and friends and the desire to save something from there.

Anyway, I like this. Is there maybe a recorded version somewhere to check out?
