We Gathered Dust

People change.. memories don´t.

We gathered memories

but we forgot what they were for

On monday I tried to give them to you

but you don't want them anymore

We gathered dust

Until our future looked so obscured

Making storms in water glasses

When we used to be selfassured

We gathered hurt

But forgot how much silence harms

I should have showed my heart to you

You should have held me in your arms

We gathered fear

Until it overcame our love

and it´s seems so meaningless

When I think about it now

We gathered memories

but we forgot what they were for

How can I give them to you

When you don't want them anymore

i know where youre coming from in this poem. it touched me in a way that brought tears. i had a relationship that ended in such a way. i dont even know who's fault it was. thanks for the wonderful read.

A gently touching, poignant piece of heart.
I find memories tragic things, whether good or bad - they are gone and we cannot change them. But we cannot stop them even if we wanted to. It depends on how you look at it, of course. Perhaps it depends if you are positive or negative - I'm a cynic, so I would say that's somewhere in between.
However you feel about them, this poem conveys the strength of feeling they encompass and the effect they often have upon the soul.
