Someone Once Said

Reading, and intelligence, have gone by the way side.

Recycled words; offered by inhabitants of long-filled graves
From a time when wisdom was craved, and we were actually the home of the brave
The cancer: intellectual cowardice. The reason why my pride has been dying
Cause even with a Head Start, its like you’re not even trying
In an era where reading is a stigmata, this generation is doomed
Aimless programming on the television, without question, thoughtlessly consumed
Men whose lips no longer utter words, speak directly to my mind
And those of today, when they search, of no value they find
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, on this point I’m sold
Voltaire once said:
”Our wretched species is so made that those who walk on the well-trodden path always throw stones at those who are opening a new road.”
To me, I find this to be the perfect synopsis
To you, it’s just something that someone once said

I really like this piece. It is something that makes you think. I think that everyone needs to step back and really look at their lives and see what is going on. Very good write.
