Dear Cliche' Quoters in My Every Day

Dear Cliche' Quoters in My Every Day

A Poem by Joli Dy
"

A little fun for a Friday

"
I just want you to know...
I am trying to have a nice day.
I am trying to mind my own business,
To not say anything at all if I have nothing nice to say.
I am trying to be the change I want to see in the world,
And to not worry and be happy.
I would like nothing more than to bend over backward for you,
And I check every cloud for the silver lining
While walking through the doors that open when others close.

But just sometimes, I feel like standing on my toes to get a better view, to see if anyone else has noticed...

It's raining cats and dogs out here
And beggars aren't being choosers;
They're drowning their sorrows
And dropping like flies.
This has been going on forever and a day,
For crying out loud!

We need a new lease on life...
To nip it in the bud!
Haven't you told me a million times
Necessity is the mother of all invention?

Well, the handwriting is on the wall...
It's now or never
Because only hindsight is 20/20.
Have a heart,
Take your own advice.
I am going to hope against hope
That you will help get the ball rolling
We can't wait for the dust to settle
Or the other shoe to drop.

Wake up and smell that coffee!
You have talked until you're blue in the face,
Taking the easy way out

But I am telling it to you straight,
YOU need to take that bull by the horns
And tighten your own belt.
Hold your tongue
And while I agree that ignorance is bliss,
A good rule of thumb
That could lead to you being a legend in your own lifetime:

Stop talking like you're dead, using rote phrases that lost their ability to inspire long ago. Just jump in there with a little creativity, even if you screw it up. Come learn along with the rest of us.

And hey... Don't shoot me; I'm only the messenger!

Gee
With my very limited command of the English language perhaps I should cliche my way through life this ever having an answer to hand for the dumb shite asked of me daily...construction is a hotbed of ever diminishing IQ's and common sense with my own IQ barely reaching dubble figerrrs :))
Enjoys this muchly

Couldn't tell if you wrote this to me, or you were trying to inspire yourself.

But we seem to be cut from the same cloth.

You've taken the commonality of every day idioms and made them something new: a motivational speech for everyone to embrace, and take it to heart.

But now, what to do with it? It's a guide for the journey we're on. The journey of a thousand miles that we began with a single step. Like eating an elephant; you have to take it one bite at a time, and even though you've led this horse to water, do you think it will drink?

do cliches "make the world go round"?
and i know that bull gets tired of everyone trying to grab its horns..

I think that bull is "fit to be tied"
and one more pull will be "the last straw"!

fun piece and so true....we use too many cliche....we need fresh language...and poets
surely do try to do that.

Thank you, Jacob!
This is very needed for me. I need to stop talking and tighten my belt. If I stopped focusing on the cliched, I could damn well finish that book. We need action, we need creativity, we need to get out of the rut. Thank you for this message, I really appreciate it.
