Game Over Without Another Quarter

Game Over Without Another Quarter

A Poem by Jonny The Savage

Time slows to a crawl,
As I watch the glass begin to splinter.
This moment is forever,
There is no possibility of turning back.

It is imminent; it is now.
Fear defines me as the branches poke through
And relocate my windshield into my skull.
Game over without another quarter.

I'm ashamed to admit it,
But in this moment,
My thoughts are with you;
Praying for one final embrace.

This is it, inhale slowly.
The last breath I'll ever take.
This mortal coil begins to tear,
My bones shattered by the impact, my soul; fate.

The first stanza is powerful. It pulls the reader in instantly.
