An Unsettling Escape

An Unsettling Escape

A Poem by Jordieghy.S

Pressure crushes my mind

And I’m seeing stars

I might go blind

As I’m trapped behind these bars

I’m a prisoner to life

And my death is not in sight

I have an idea that’s not so bright

As I sit there and stare at the kitchen knife

A thought so selfish

And an act with no undoing

Very nicely rhymed, leaves us guessing the intent without stating it. Hope it's not autobiographical.

This feeling behind this poem is clearly stated. An exact replica of suicidal thoughts. So heartbreaking and yet, completely understandable. Profound reality for too many.
