I am GuiltyA Poem by Kitty“You have been accused,” Said the judge standing before me. His beady eyes were staring into mine, “So, how do you plea?” “I am not sure Of which crime you speak,” I replied as for the answer I began to seek. He said, “You know very well Of the crime I’m referring to. You have to stand up And admit it was you” Looking bewildered, I still had no clue. “I’m sorry, but I don’t know Of what I was said to do” “Love, young lady! That’s what you’re accused of!” That’s what you did, You fell in love” “But your Honour,” I tried to appeal. “How can Love be a crime, When it feels so real?” “It is not the fact Of how real or not. The point is for it, In jail you will rot.” “Well, then I will Enter my plea. If Love is the crime, Then I am guilty. “You can lock up my hands And take my freedom away, But I will never stop loving him As much as I do today. “I will take all the consequences For standing up for Love. I am not afraid – It’s something I am proud of! “So lock me up And throw away the key, Because if Love is the crime, Then I am definitely guilty…” Copyright©JosieWentzel28January2008
