No One Knew

“Please,” I silently beg,

“Please, just go away.”

These memories are daunting to me,

Haunting me,

Taunting me.

I wish that there was someone

I could turn to;

Someone I could talk to;

Someone who has time for me.

But there is no one.

I am alone,

Plagued by these disturbing

Images of my past.

Why didn’t anyone

Stop to help me?

Why didn’t anyone

Ask what was wrong?

Why was I forced to live through the nightmare,

And the hellish years to follow,

All on my own?

Because no one knew.

There was no one who was willing to listen;

No one who would take the time to care.

No one…
