Caged Bird

Caged Bird

A Poem by Kitty

You have me locked up here,

Deprived of all I need.

Why do you keep in this place?

You have me caged like a bird,

To acknowledge and admire

Whenever you want to.

When you pull the cloth off my cage

I’m willing to do anything for your attention –

Like a puppet on a string.

I will sing for my supper;

Flap my wings to give you air;

I’ll remove every feather from my body

To make a soft pillow for you.

Do you enjoy watching

Me suffering like this?

What pleasure could this possibly bring?

I’ve made a promise

One which I intend to keep,

But I ask you for a favour in return.

Please, I beg you,

Please,

Set me free.

Such a powerful poem, with a magnificent depth! The emotion and visual nature of your work are so well devised, falling like a soft rain, crying out to be heard. Brilliant!

Finding peace has always been a struggle for me. But if there is one thing I can wish for the world, it's peace, love, more tolerence, faith, hope and trust. I hope you find it somewhere out there.... more..
