Written on the Wall

 

Hate.

Such an angry word,

Filled with such menace,

Such raw emotion.

Do you feel that way towards me?

Do you feel such immense

Anger and dislike towards me?

I wonder how to

Take away the ugliness of the word.

Maybe if I rearrange the letters?

No, that wouldn’t make any sense.

What if I change the colour –

Take away the dark, gloomy, angry black

And replace it with red,

Deep, rich, blood red?

Yes, that will take away

The harshness of the word,

Will take away

The sting in its meaning,

Remove the pain

Each time it is mentioned.

Yes, red.

Crimson red,

Crimson drops,

Drops of blood,

Bloody letters,

Letters spelling hate,

Hate, written on the wall.

Blood dripping from my wrists,

Red blood,

Red letters,

Letters spelling hate,

Hate, carved into my arm.

I wonder,

Do you feel this intense

Emotion towards me?
