Love Will Prevail

This is a piece I wrote in order to see if I qualified to join a writers' course. I got a positive response, but never had the funds to persue it...

It all started off as just a job in a foreign country.  That was until I met him.  Cory Ryans – shaved head, sexy body, baby blue eyes, a smile that could warm even the coldest of hearts, and that sexy American accent that we only ever hear on TV.  Oh my gosh!  It was love at first sight.  I know.  I know.  “How cliché.”  But it REALLY was love at first sight!  From the first word, to our first kiss, to the first time we touched – it was love.

 

But the problem was, nothing was supposed to happen between us.  You see, we both had partners at the time – him a girlfriend of five years, me a boyfriend of a couple of months.  We never expected to meet each other, but we did.  In any case, he was getting upset with the way his girlfriend was treating him, and I was having the similar problem with my boyfriend.  But the fact remains, it was never supposed to go as far as it did…

 

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to meet you dream-partner?  It was then that I stopped wondering.  Cory fulfilled my every criteria of what my dream-guy would be like.  He did everything I has always wanted a guy to do.  He cared for me in a way I had never been cared for before.  Now, I do realise that many people will say that this could never be true love.  And I guess I agree to a certain degree.  But, then again, you would have to have felt the way he kissed me, the love in his arms when he held me.  It was love, alright, and I’m just so glad that I got to experience true love from my dream-guy…

 

And now, my love story comes to an end – I’m back in South Africa, him still in Vermont.  But still the love remains as strong as the first time we spoke.  It’s just a bit more difficult now with the distance between us.  But our love will prevail and I will return to him…

Nice story. Dough I'm a little disappointed by the way you ended it� What if when you return to him he's with another chik? (as a reader I can not help myself from thinking that )
