The Law of Gravity

The Law of Gravity

A Poem by Kitty

Standing up here,

Staring out at the restless ocean,

I feel the wind whipping at my skirt;

Thrashing through my hair.

The salty scent of the sea

Brings back so many emotions,

Brings up so many memories.

I close my eyes

And feel the wind begin to pick me up –

I suddenly feel like I’m flying.

I’ve felt this feeling before,

Once, when I believed in Love.

I remember that feeling well,

The way I had felt like all the bad was gone,

The feeling of freedom

Wrapped up in indescribable joy.

But like I fell that day

When the love disappeared

(Or maybe I just realised it wasn’t there),

The wind drops me.

My feet search for ground,

But there is none.

I have been dropped just short of the cliff

And now I am plummeting down

To the jagged rocks below.

There is nothing to grip,

Nothing to stop me from falling,

Nothing but the deep blue ocean

Beyond the sharp blades below.

I guess this is the Law of Gravity:

‘What goes up, must come down.’

Finding peace has always been a struggle for me. But if there is one thing I can wish for the world, it's peace, love, more tolerence, faith, hope and trust. I hope you find it somewhere out there.... more..
