Crimson Blossoms

Crimson Blossoms

A Poem by Kitty
"

'White is the colour of friendship', they say...

"

Thank you for the flowers you sent –

They’re beautiful!

Pity the beauty couldn’t last.

Your note –

The one you hid on the side –

Destroyed the beauty that the flowers once held.

It said that we were over

And you had found someone new.

You sent me flowers to tell me this?!

What?

Was it meant to soften the blow?

Maybe you thought

It would make me smile through my tears.

Well, my love, I’m not smiling.

No.

But the tears,

Oh, my dear, the tears…

Why?

What did I do?

I loved you with all I have;

I gave you my life;

I did everything for you!

I’ve ripped up your note

And now I sit staring at

The white roses you sent –

‘White is the colour of friendship’, they say.

Well, my sweet,

I’ve always hated the colour white,

So these white buds will soon be stained crimson

With the blood from my wrists…

The font you used what so pretty and the coversational style made this piece an interesting and easy read. I was not expecting the ending....that was horrific! Cheers,lea

Such a deeply sad, moving write. Your use of colors works perfectly to convey the pain and suffering of rejection and your conversational style makes it seem so personal.
