Could this be the last?

Will this be the last?

A question I often ask myself

About things that occur in my life.

“Will this be the last meal?

Will this be the last ray of sunshine?

Will this be the last moment of truth?

Will this be the last smile?

Will this be the last tear?”

Oh, I wish I knew the answer.

I want to know

If this will be the last kiss;

If this will be the last embrace.

I want to know

If this will be the last promise you break;

If this will be the last breath I take.

Oh how I wish I knew the answer…
