Today is All I Have

To all the people who have stuck with me and will continue to do so... I love you!!!!!!

 

                                 I’m watching as the sky brightens up,

Yes, I see this is a new day.

I have no recollections of the past

And no intention of finding the future.

What I have is now;

Today;

And that is all I need.

 

I have spent too much time

Locked in the dark;

Spent too much time

Walking this lonely path.

But Today is another day,

A new adventure

Waiting just for me.

 

The day is beautiful,

The skies pure blue.

Nothing could cloud my day

Not Today and definitely not Tomorrow!

I savour the sun’s rays

Shining on my face.

Today is all I need.

 

I have spent too much time

Just waiting for the dark to start lifting;

Spent too much time

Wishing I could stop drifting.

But Today is another day,

A new adventure

Waiting just for me.

 

I smile at the friends I have met,

Shed a tear for those I might lose.

I smile to everyone who remained

And are still with me right now.

All I have is now;

Today;

And that is all I need.

 

I spent too much time

Crying wasted tears;

Spent too much time

Awaiting the realities of my fears.

But Today is another day,

A new adventure

Waiting just for me.

 

Yes, Today is all I have -

Yesterday is gone

And Tomorrow is not a promise.

Today is all I have,

The only time I have

To say what you mean to me…

i love this poem. so many times we get lost in the past or too busy focusing on the future, when really tomorrow isn't promised.
