Final Curtain Call

Final Curtain Call

A Poem by Kitty

The day you walked out that door

I thought my heart would feel no more.

But while I was feeling blue,

Mourning my loss of you,

He walked into the room

And not a moment too soon.

He was a breath of fresh air,

A picture of perfection standing there.

And to think I had spent so much time

Trying my darndest to make you mine,

When I could’ve already had this;

Could’ve been lusting over his kiss.

If only I hadn’t been so dumb,

My heart wouldn’t for long have been so numb.

I would’ve known his touch a long time ago,

I wouldn’t have found you so hard to let go.

Oh how could I have missed out on all this time?

Why was I so intent on making you mine?

But that’s all over now,

As the curtains close, take a final bow.

This will be your final curtain call –

Soon you will mean nothing to me at all.

I will be happy wrapped in his arms;

I’ll be lost in all his charms.

And there’ll be no more sadness in my heart;

No, him and I will not part!
