Give it a Chance

What's worse? The chance of being rejected or knowing that you never gave it a chance at all?

Words tend to fail me

When I need them most.

Faced with a scenario

Where the outcome can only

Be discovered by the clever

Use of words,

I find myself lost.

Is it because I’m scared?

Maybe I’m just shy.

Or could it be

That I’m afraid of

What the response might be?

I know rejection well –

We are old friends.

Could that be what I am afraid of?

Rejection?

But what is worse –

The chance of being rejected

Or the knowledge

That you never gave it a chance at all?

So here I stand

Not knowing what your reaction will be;

Not knowing if you realise how I feel about you;

Not knowing how you feel about me.

Words tend to fail me,

But I think you get the idea…
