Words Are Just Words

Words Are Just Words

A Poem by Jolene

Where to begin I wonder? Where do I start?
I suppose the first thing is to mend this old heart.
I stand here stripped bare, all I’ve known torn apart.
How the hell do I even re-start?
The weight of it all rips the breath from my chest. Someone please tell me what to do next.
So on paper it all looks clear cut,
Know your worth, make that change,
Learn to control your dark thoughts.
Let things go, learn from before,
Understand sometimes life isn’t fair,
That no matter the effort the outcomes the same.
And on paper it's easy ,written words clear to see,
Rules to stop being the failure you've been.
But words are just words no pain
Can they feel.
No regrets, or doubts haunt them while they struggle to heal.
