Just as we always knew:
as we’d always expected--the
chaos in calmness, like a cool sip of chamomile tea, whilst the
kettle shrieked to scream, “It’s done! Quick! Before you burn the house down!”
Screams we’d both become so accustomed to,
our ears were numb to the sound. You tossed your body like a knife:
never realizing you’d become unsharpened so carelessly by the
empty glances of void faces:
Delivered to you in the most hushed of
ways, and you can’t help but not to notice,
as I watch your dulled skeleton toss side to side--
right to left, right to left, I only wish to feed you contradicting
dreams of how things could be:
Amidst the chaos in your calmness, I whisper:
“Unlike your black and white dreams, I’ll
give you some turmoil that’ll paint your thoughts red:
Unlike your black and white thoughts, I’ll
sharpen your mind like the
talons on the hawks we envied so greatly, and we'll descend on the frivolous
quest to find a way out of our minds.” ... Unmoved, unscathed, you could remain
asleep through anything, I pause to realize the shrieks of the tea kettle:
letting me know “It’s done! It’s done!”-- I feel as if I should wake you before
I
leave, but you look so peaceful in your oblivious mind, so I leave you
unsharpened.
Lovely, I personally, love Chamomile tea, the title drew me in to wonderful array of dialogue in this wonderful poem. Its raw and unpretentious. Excellent.
A amazing poem. Chamomile tea can bring calm and peace to most moments. I like the many emotions in this poem.
"Amidst the chaos in your calmness, I whisper:
“Unlike your black and white dreams,"
A outstanding poem.

Very interesting poem Julianna. The tension is almost palatable and I love the imagery. The contrast of images is wonderful. "Chaos in calmness, like a cool sip of chamomile tea, whilst the
kettle shrieked to scream, good stuff. I enjoyed it.
