More Than a Summer Day

The beauty of a summer day

one could not compare

to all that I have found in you

for you take me where

 

I see the dawn in golden light

dress the morning skies

warming the dew that shimmers there

to stir the butterflies

 

I hear the birds sing melodies

through the wind untamed

while the flowers upon the hill

in petals write your name

 

Light and carefree, sweet wildflower

dance upon the wind

sing with the birds your gentle song

and when tree branches bend

 

It’s only in your loveliness

they curtsey as they sway

for your beauty is even more

than a summer day

Julie thanks for taken me there on this wintery night its below zero I freezing numb and I don't know what I would do with out a friend like you to warm me thoughts up like this poem does. You're welcome. It seemed to me a mother's gratitude, something of how I felt every time I held my son while nursing him. It was such a feeling of contentment, of complete, grounded earthiness… but also of universal spirituality.
