Bleeding Heart, and sick mind.A Poem by JulieNorellThe story of a girl who has an illness. She falls in love with a boy he is secretly in love with the girl but denies it for his friends. He gives the girl a flower, a Bleeding Heart. to her its a signYou sit…pondering the flower. A beautiful, soft pink Bleeding Heart. And you think of how much it represents you…The delicate petals, the name especially, Its beautiful heart-shaped curves. You suppose it was an omen, since the one who made your heart bleed gave you the thing. The young dashing blond boy with the crooked smile and cruel intentions…to play with you. At this moment you are filled with pain…and hatred. You make your way the kitchen, to the drawer filled with shiny sharp objects your mother keeps locked away from you. But she doesn’t know that you saw her hide the key. You grab the biggest knife you can find and safely lock the drawer and replace the key in its cubby behind the breadbox. You walk out the door into the moonlight and towards the one who made your heart bleed. A silent tear rolls down your soft white cheek. You go to his window, and beckon for him. He stirs and opens his window with only a look of annoyance, the look twists your heart and more blood pours from it. You climb in the window and you kiss him, he hesitantly kisses you back, then he pushes you away. You take a step back, pull the knife from your waistline and hold out your other hand. He takes it and a look passes between you and him, a look of pure joy. But you can’t help but suspect its fake. Your suspicious mind creates the words that cause you to plunge the blade into his heart and lay the flower over the wound as he bleeds. “He’ll make your heart bleed again, you should listen to us Kelly…Listen to us.” © 2011 JulieNorellFeatured Review
