Forgiveness

A poem for when something has gone wrong and you need/want to apologize. I hope this helps you gain understanding for past, present, and future wrongdoings.

I did this

And I did not mean to cause you pain.

My intentions were mostly pure

And my mind was somewhat sane.

I did not intend to inspire anger

And if I knew, I would not do it again.

But in response to this relevant wrong,

I ask you to be gentle and not as strong;

Because of your love and not what I've done,

I ask you to be the more mature one.

I'll try not to do this thing anymore;

So, going forward, I ask for your...

Speaking words of wisdom..... Bravo Juliah. I've seen many people, mostly couples, fight over stupid things,and none of them try to be the mature one and they want to beat each other like they are competitors, not lovers. Their lack of maturity has always caused me pain. I'm very glad to see your wisdom to write these words. They show your maturity. To be able to apologize and to be able to manage the problems in relationships, surely is a big skill.
By the way, finally I see a teenager in the cafe, I too am a teenager. It's rare to find people near our age in the cafe, most of the people here are wise poets who have lived at least for half of a century.

This poem wasn't written just for me, but I can personally attest to the fact that I have made a lot of opportunities for apology. Let's just hope that when something goes wrong, we are forgiven. And I agree, growing up is the most formative thing I know besides pain. Thanks for the thoughts and for reading the poem!

Nicely crafted and the message is expressed wonderfully. Sometimes it is hard to ask for forgiveness only because we fear we might not gte it but, it does feel good to do so and have the other person understand.
