Alien Identity

Alien Identity

A Poem by Anna

I am a foreigner to my own skin

checking myself for thoughts of betrayal

at every stopping point

I am the shade of gray

neither black nor white

not enough to drip onto either canvas

I am my own spectrum of ideas

an extremist in liberating

a follower of commands

I have a voice

opinions that ricochet

off the ramparts of my mind

I am gradually searching

to find someone of relative familiarity

cling to their identity

I am a thief

greedily taking from the thoughts of the exposed

tearing them apart,

molding and altering

to claim as my own.

Liked the choice of words - the way you wrote this poetry with insights. Many lines're my fav... the below ones're one of 'em:

"I am the shade of gray... neither black nor white"
"I have a voice, opinions that ricochet... off the ramparts of my mind"

Beautiful way of working. Liked it!
