I Recommend Shoes

Sorry about the mess,
There hasn't been anyone
worth cleaning up for
in a long while.
Not since the light
Of my life dropped.
Replaced me like a
Burned out light bulb,
An empty wine bottle,
She had so many,
Something used and glass.
Pieces of broken heart
Hide easily in piles
Of my shattered dreams.
Most of them have
Ground into the rug
A long time ago;
But now and then
I find a piece
with jagged edges, still.
Anyway, that's what
the shoes are for.
