So they say

They say people change in years,
but you changed me in a day.
They say life is long and hard,
but in your arms I floated and swayed

They mentioned about the darkness

that exists in the alleyway,
but you illumined me from within.

They proclaimed the world to be ravening,
but you kept me safe in your warm cocoon.

They say the day can be harsh
and the sun can give you blisters,
but you wrapped me tenderly
like the moon in the soothing night.

They believe the barren lands can never yield
but you transformed my impotent heart
into a loving blossom!

Critique: Sentence structure tells how it is read and having long and short lines effects the flow, try reading it as I have restructured those long lines. If I didn't know English wasn't your native language I would think you were from someplace in the states, :~)
