Goodbye Comes Easier Now.

Goodbye Comes Easier Now.

A Poem by Katrina Crickett
"

Sometimes, all you need to do in order to let go, is find the reason you've been holding on.

"

And I found his heart at the back of a drawer,

solid and cold,

shimmering gold,

lost but never truly forgotten.

The polished metal, sparkling in the light,

under a layer of dust.

Temporarily forgotten, lost now found,

symbolism of us.

Not readily accepted nor freely given,

yet still it lies unopened.

The only thing left of strong ties

now severed and broken.

The thread that once bound, frayed and snapped,

two hands have now unclasped,

one held on for far too long,

but lost its tight held grasp.

All that glitters is apparently cold,

for me that isn’t so,

goodbye comes easier now,

it’s time to let you go.

I liked this piece, but I think it would be better in stanzas like a poem.
eg.
And I found his heart at the back of a drawer,
solid and cold,
shimmering gold,
lost but never truly forgotten.

:) Might make it a little easier to read, but overall it's really good. xx

Lovely piece and very well expressed. I agree with Shannon that perhaps writing it more in a poetic form might make it flow a bit easier. Overall very nice work though :)
