TangibleA Poem by Alex P.Can you feel it?Bone branches sway in the wind, A meagre sun filtering through ashen skies My footsteps crunch in the blanket, Ice crystals covering the Earth, Keeping it warm until the robin Fills the air once more with its song
Distantly, the faint sounds of birdcalls exchanged, Rapid chirps, Repetitions of names While somewhere beneath the ground, New life stirs
Nobody can feel it, See it, Not yet, the Earth is still too bare, But something keeps smiles on lips longer, Renews eyes’ twinkles, Long lost to the winter’s cold
It’s a flavour on the wind, Something new stirring, It’s what makes birdsong sweeter, And what makes rabbits dance in the lilac groves
Life renewed once again, New generation to seed And finally, after a lifetime of darkness, We can smile in the light of the sun © 2011 Alex P.Reviews
