Waiting On The Rivers Of Time

Waiting On The Rivers Of Time

A Poem by KWP
"

... love without boundaries ...

"

The rivers of me

ebb in reticence,

but she knows.

The creeks in me

gush freely in enamoured bliss,

because she knows.

The waterways of my heart

cascade only to

the ocean of her light

because together,

we know.

Like day to night,

and light to stars,

she completes me.

'No!' They say, 'It's not the way.'

In a web of ignorance,

our simple love,

- is not the way.

The ignorant are illiterate in the poetry of true love.

I am authentic, I am free.

Yet, here we are

waiting for the laggers behind to

leave the boat atop our waters.

To learn to float.

Interceptors of love

possessing a desert heart,

waiting for the rain,

always,

waiting for the rain.

Desert heart,

when the rain comes,

let it pour down on to you and

lash you foolish with acceptance to

cleanse you of all the rules.

Let it replenish you with water enough to

sprout forests who welcome life -

in all of it's colours, shapes and forms.

All life.

My wish for you,

is to be an ocean -

you too can open your arms to the rivers.

Beautiful. May all of us be open enough to let the rain in, as long as it doesn't wash away the roots. Lovely done :)

"....waiting for the laggers behind to leave the boat atop our waters. To learn to float." The rhythm and structure here, the message. Enjoyed.

I do like lesbians. You don't seem like one though, so I'm guessing this isn't a first person point of view thing? Good imagery but not smoothly written, slightly clunky, but not too bad... I've done worse.

Not all lesbians are clunky, just Ellen DeGeneres.

really enjoy the metaphors and contrasts .. i began to imagine the Net Geo pieces on the rainy and dry seasons in Africa ..and Australia ;))
i think this is a meaty poem ..deep undercurrents of spiritual truths ..but the changes in person cause me a little confusion so i guess as to who "you" and "she" really are ..and its unclear as to who to assign the desert hear to ...so i go with a mixed bag of very personal honesty to a general negative experienced heart to an expression of very universal unconditional love of the god or goddess of ones choosing ;) the hint of lesbian relationship stirs me as it does for most men ..wish i could figure that one out ..ah well ..i am too old to wrestle with that so will content myself to its mystery :)))
your poem has got my a-pondering my friend
