Lost Boy

About a friend of mine

A broken vessel of growing madness

His thoughts are bent

Filled with joyful sadness

His heart is pure yet his words untrue

Jumbled feelings of yellow, red and blue

A child of the sun

Yet a creature of the night 

A wandering soul

Confused and clouded with fright

So many words yet an absence of goals

A boy so lost he's out of control.

I think most of us feel a bit this way from time to time...lost and trying to find meaning or a place to belong, even a bit insane. Some of the greatest minds of writers and artists have lived upon the edge of uncertainty and the threshold of madness...Van Gogh, Hemingway, Dickinson, Poe, Plath and countless others. Of course madness takes a toll and too often a brilliant life. It's good to befriend the lonely and the loner so long as we can contain our own demons.
